If you are over 65 or in an at risk group you are eligible for a FREE flu jab. As a practice we will be running the flu clinics as soon as the vaccine is available.
You are at risk if you;
• Are pregnant
• Have a long term health condition i.e. diabetes, COPD, chronic heart disease
• Have a learning disability
• Are the main carer for someone who is at risk of Covid-19, or whose welfare may be at risk if you fall ill
This winter, because of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, the flu vaccine is also being offered to those aged 50 to 64 years old. We will contact you when you are able to book an appointment for this vaccine. For more information about the extended programme please go to the gov.uk website.
For more information on the flu vaccine please go to https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/vaccinations/flu-influenza-vaccine/
The two posters below give more information on which flu vaccines will be given this year, including which flu vaccine children should have.
Please be aware that practices in Erewash unfortunately do not receive the flu vaccines at the same time. This means you may get your flu vaccine at a different time to other people in your area, e.g. if your neighbour is registered at a different practice and they get the flu vaccine at a different time to you. It is useful to note that the ‘over 65’s’ vaccine is different to the ‘at risk’ vaccine for under 65’s, and they are delivered separately. This has an impact on when different age groups can get the vaccine. We apologise for this and we are working together as local practices to try and co-ordinate this in future years.
